The Metalka skyscraper is one of Ljubljana’s most recognizable buildings and an important milestone of Slovenian modernist architecture. Designed by architect Edo Mihevc and completed in 1963, it was the city’s first office skyscraper. Its distinctive aluminium façade and slender silhouette have shaped the image of Ljubljana’s city centre for decades. In this night version, the graphic reveals a different side of Metalka, as illuminated windows and the atmosphere of the evening bring a new dimension to the building. A symbol of modernization and progress is presented in the form that generations of Ljubljančani have come to recognize after sunset.
