One of the first versions of the Tomos legend from the 1970s was started with pedals and had a sprung seat meant only for the rider. Only later, in the 1980s, did it get a longer seat, which could (conditionally) more comfortably carry a passenger. The Tomos Automatic 3 was a light and simple moped that became a symbol of youthful freedom in Yugoslavia; for many, it was the first motorbike that brought a sense of independence, and its characteristic sound and appearance remain in the memory of generations and today live on in the collections of enthusiasts and nostalgics.
