A nostalgic summer deserves a winter sequel. Complete the collection with the novel SVOBODA 1980.
BOGUIZANOGU is a coming-of-age novel set during the last carefree summer of 1980, following the death of Josip Broz Tito. The story follows a young boy and his group of friends in a settlement somewhere in the Štajerska region, cut off from the nearby town by a newly built highway. Far from the eyes of their parents, they race around on Pony bikes and motorbikes, secretly smoke Drina cigarettes, explore forbidden places, test the limits of courage and experience emotions they do not yet know how to name. Through thirteen chapters, the novel paints a portrait of a generation beginning to say goodbye to childhood, just as the country itself was beginning to say goodbye to the idea of Tito’s Yugoslavia.
