SVOBODA 1980 is a coming-of-age novel set in a time when major changes were already beginning to emerge beneath the surface of socialist Yugoslavia. The story follows five high school students spending an unforgettable week in Kranjska Gora during the winter holidays of January 1980. Racing down snowy slopes on Elan skis and attracting the attention of police officers in Zastava 101 cars, they experience skiing, first loves and exciting new friendships. Along the way, they discover hidden truths about their homeland and encounter emotions and adventures they had barely dared to imagine. Something similar would happen to Slovenia and Yugoslavia throughout the following decade.
